Located in the heart of the mountains called « Haut-Jura »,

the town of Saint-Claude hosts many sports events (such as the « Transjurassienne », « Ultra Trail », « Forestière ») and cultural events (Haut-Jura’s Music Festival, Art Museum with some remains of a 11th century cloister, « La fraternelle », Saint-Pierre Cathedral…). It aims to maintain its traditions, like the Soufflaculs Festival with bands, cheerleaders, different musical bands and procession of chariots.

Saint-Claude attracts many visitors thanks to its gastronomy and famous cheeses (Comté, Raclette, Bleu de Gex). The town is attached to its expertise such as pipes manufacturing and diamond cutting, which are so notorious that Saint-Claude is called town of Pipe and Diamond. When Saint-Claude was a famous place of pilgrimage, wood and horn turnery had its boom with the manufacturing of objects of worship.

Many Art workshops have been distinguished by a label (« Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant », « Meilleurs Ouvriers de France », « Compagnons du Devoir »…). Since 1992, Saint-Claude is recognized by the label « Ville et Métiers d’Art ». Every two years, the town organises a wood crafts fair (November 8th, 9th and 10th in 2013).

In Saint-Claude, one can find a three stars camping with swimming pool and can do many activities such as tennis, hang-gliding, golf, ski, bike, horse ridding, treks, paragliding, fishing and climbing.

With its rivers, bridges, vertiginous viewpoints, shops, cultural daily life, huge number of activities, human dimension, Saint-Claude invites everyone to come to discover its values and history.
