Since the XVIIIth century, the clay of Berry, famous for its quality, has contributed to the establishment and the development of porcelain factories, with all the activities linked to this industry.

Today the aim of the Pôle de la Porcelaine is to value old collections, a heritage of the city, but also to promote new creators through yearly exhibitions whose themes are always related to traditional crafts.

Rewarded by « Ville et Métiers d’Art » for its dynamism and innovative policy in favour of traditional crafts, Mehun-sur-Yèvre keeps on boosting these exceptional trades, especially through its arts and crafts show, a regional event not be missed, 2013 will be the 7th edition.

For about ten years now, craftsmen with various talents have developed their activity or have been hosted at Mehun-sur-Yèvre as part of a specific policy for establishment:  A restorer of paintings, cabinetmakers, an upholsterer, an eventaillist, a mosaic creator, a cross stitch creator, railway modelists, a wood painter.
