Sauveterre de Rouergue, a village of arts and crafts.

Sauveterre of Rouergue is a village of the south west of France, created at the end of the 13th century. It is classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, because his remarkable and preserved medieval architecture. Proud of an old craft tradition, Sauveterre got a lot of different workshops installed in its walls for a long time: cutlery, leather, furniture, hat, glass, iron, jewels, wall tapestry, leather clothes and stringed-instrument makers.

To support the dynamism of its arts and crafts, the municipality of Sauveterre created a building including 8 new workshops, housing, 250m2 of showrooms and galleries. Thanks to a rigorous and eclectic selection, new craftsmen and artiste settled down in this space: raku ceramist, lumigraphe, bookbinder, painter, stringed-instrument maker, wood turner, photographer, sculptor-ceramist and workshop of lacquer. 

This Art center, created right in the heart of Sauveterre, has for mission to encourage the promotion of its talents in France and abroad and to develop events all along the year such as the  Sauveterre’s Arts Craft Festival the 1st weekend of October where creators  from all the regions of France coming for this special exhibition. One ambition: to highlight the exceptional concentration of creativity of its members. Organizer of exhibitions, open days and demonstrations of art crafts, meetings with public, the Art Center of Sauveterre participates obviously to the economic life of the village.
